Variety Note

  • Did a bunch of stuff that wasn't going to the allotment.
  • Wedding planning made a little more progress. I'm mindful R is carrying the biggest burden, as I procrastinate and instead make progress on the allotment.
  • I painted our celler head which took frickin' ages. Two sunny days I spent labouring over that, instead of labouring over the allotment.
  • We met with some friends at our local pub which was great, but it would have been nicer to hangout together at the allotment.
  • Our own garden got a little TLC from me too, but I would still rather care for the allotment.
  • Absolutely obsessed, reader. Wish I could be there always. Absolutely. Obsessed.
  • Front End Sheffield yet again delivered with another high value talk. This time from Adam Jaggard from Mux. He shared how Mux uses web components to provide customisable layouts/overlays for live streamed video. I've stopped promising I'll actually ever help out by giving a talk. The bar is high! Unintentionally I gather. Sheffield's tech scene isn't massive, but is impressive.
  • I grabbed a spare ticket to All Day Hey!, a tech conference in Leeds. I almost didn't, but am so glad I did. Learnt a lot; felt inspired; caught up with some colleagues; and (gasp) mingled with some lovely new people too.
    • It was so so nice to have a big bunch of FT people travel north ❤️
    • Oh my God though, I need to remember I don't like drinking any more. I've had a 2 day emotional hangover and continue to be very grumpy.
  • Voted in the local elections before heading out to Hey! Our local Green party candidate held his seat 🙌 I'm a Green party member but I'm not engaged. I was thinking about stepping back and just donating or something, but have since been convinced even mild engagement is better than no engagement.
  • It's the coronation. I was going to make a savoury, Republican Roulade. It was to use similar ingredients to the coronation quiche but, crucially, would be Republican and a roulade. I talked a big game all week about my Republican Roulade. However I cannot be arsed, don't fancy it, and Lidl are out of organic eggs sooo... Probably just have a Vive la République Frozen Pizza instead.
  • Have a great bank holiday all!
