Driven Note

  • A sunny bank holiday meant lots of allotment time 🥰
  • With R away I was set to have perhaps a little too much time to myself. Thankfully my allotment neighbour was about; some family members popped by; and a friend's request for help shifting wardrobes snowballed into a gathering. Lovely.
  • House work? Wedding planning? No! Allotment. Only allotment.
  • Wow, going back to work, trapped indoors, was tough.
  • T. O. U. G. H. Tough.
  • Thursday I hauled myself to London for an office visit and came back more directed and motivated. It was an effective way to enthusiastically hash out some bigger projects with the team 😊
  • One of my personal priorities right now is mapping out front-end tools and techniques used by teams across the FT Group to inform shared technical decisions. I've generated a big ol' spreadsheet of tech, teams, and systems to start conversations where teams might not have a full picture of their own estate, and I've put together a kind of semi-structured interview. Next week I'll be trialling the format with our Engineering Insights team.
  • I'd like to be at the allotment right now, this Saturday morning, but whilst it's quiet out I'd like to drive our car for the first time more. I haven't driven since passing my test last week. It's a bit intimidating since my instructor's car is quite a bit fancier, and electric. I'll wait for my beloved co-pilot to wake up.
  • Hope you have a restful weekend, ta ta!
