Automotive Note
Authored
- I took today off work, and I used it to pass my driving test. Woop.
- Sorry, close friend or family member, for not telling you before you read this. I didn't tell many, didn't want to make a fuss.
- It does feel like an achievement. I'm quietly very happy. My father has been on at me to learn to drive since I was 16.
- To celebrate I bought a doughnut, cut it into two, and ate the whole thing to myself. Which felt very wrong. Me and R usually share a doughnut. They're away this weekend and I miss them already. Such. A. Sap.
- On the other hand I get to eat a whole can of mushy peas with tea tonight. Living the solo dream!
- (That's right this is my blog, henceforth I'm calling my evening meal "tea" here. Probably I'll have a cob with my mushy peas β perhaps even follow up later with some supper. Tomorrow, when mother visits, we might enjoy a scone pronounced like "cone").
- (Where did that come from? Linguistic liberation!)
- Now, we'll see if I can drive without incident in our own car. Sing with me!.. We all have a Honda (we all have a Honda)! Thanks for the ear worm, J.L β I'll never hear anything else now, I'm looking forward to our next road trip.
- I'm going to need to learn how to actually parallel park on our street; it's a terrace, on road parking, chockablock with cars right and left. Wish me luck, reader!
- As the weather improves and the days draw longer, I'm spending many more hours at the allotment. Truth be told, I've felt a little despondent at my hard won progress. This first season is tough going. But for the most part there's no place I've yet found which makes me as happy or more content than there; listening to bird song with a warm thermos to hand, after hours of toil. A delight.
- Not to mention community: It's a shared project, with my allotment buddy; our allotment neighbours seem lovely; friends visited last weekend, we built a coldframe together π Hopefully soon I'll replace the mud with healthy plants and will be able to share the results of my labour of love πΏπ₯π π₯¦π»
- I'm writing bigger allotment updates separately, if it's something you're interested in.
- Bye now, enjoy Easter weekend all. Ramadan Mubarak, also!
