Committed Note

  • I still haven't knowingly contracted covid. So far, so good. This week I've been testing more frequently because of being pinged as a close contact. I think it happened on a train journey. None of the train staff were wearing masks but since few passengers were around they kindly offered me a Cadburys Chocolate Eclair, which was lovely, so I can't stay mad.
  • I pulled the trigger on a dehumidifier and it's the best thing. Great at drying clothes in winter without a tumble dryer.
  • Checkout my orchid, back in flower. I thought it would be a difficult one to look after but seemingly not. I wonder if it will appreciate dehumidifier water, condensed to remove impurities (the instructions say not to drink though).
A purple orchid, variety unknown, with an abundance of purple flowers across three stems and long, green leaves.
It's a purple orchid, variety unknown, with a strong floral scent.
  • I'm reading Fleishman Is in Trouble. I'm only half way through but it's sounding a lot like me and R and everyone should definitely divorce (metaphorically, not married). I make sure to let R know, repeatedly, which is very healthy in a relationship actually.
  • Speaking of commitment, house purchase update: We agreed a completion date! No exchange has happened yet, it should happen soon 🤞 I'm excited and love it but, now the time to legally commit has arrived, also fear everything it stands for. Can you imagine, being able to live somewhere securely for more than a year or two?! What will that feel like 5 years in?!
  • Now would be the time to exit. To quit my job, buy R out of my half of the Miele vacuum cleaner, move to Wales – somewhere beautiful, remote – and learn a practical skill that's actually useful. But I'll focus on the optimism and excitement and hold course for a future crisis.
  • Hey, my watch reports that I’m stressed after a beer and dirty fries and extremely salty falafel, isn’t that interesting.
