- Don't let the end of Christmas and New Year celebrations get you down. Pour another glass of Baileys, open a few more disappointing utility chocolates, and ride this train with me to Twelfth Night! I won't let R take down the Christmas decorations.
- Christmas was lovely but plans had to change quite late in the game. Some were cancelled, some went virtual, where we'd stay over Christmas itself "necessitated" a 5 step decision tree to account for various permutations of covid prevalence. Plan (1) was scuppered but plan (2) came good. I got to spend more time with my youngest siblings which was really nice.
- My littlest sister is exceptionally sharp but was no match for (much) older brother nonsense. I briefly convinced her that Pokémon are real, not in this country of course, and that once I very nearly caught a Pikachu – a half truth, but on Pokémon Go before my bus interrupted – however ultimately I failed as a trainer and set aside my dreams. Instead I settled to become a web developer because, well, I have bills to pay and quite like it, I suppose.
- She was reluctant to believe me and asked excellent probing questions which almost caught me out, but ultimately she had no reason not to trust me. I came clean quickly and felt guilt later on when she asked me why I lied. Trust. Lost. Aww, I think she forgives me though 😅🙏
- Fun fact, all children toys are now a surprise it seems. They're either hidden in an egg, or need the application of water to reveal hair/accessory colour, or have an otherwise elaborate unveiling.
- 2022! Jeez. I feel old. We brought in the new year with friends and board games. Hurray!
