Celebratory Note

Authored

  • We attended our friends' wedding! It was, completely magical.

These lines of writing are here to get in your way. To put space between the wedding, which was by far the most exciting and wonderful event of the last week, and the rest of the weeknote which is longer but less significant.

Ok, ready?

  • I finished reading The Shape of Design by Frank Chimero for a second time. My original copy was taken from a laundrette in Ladbroke Grove years ago, where I had left it by mistake. Where are you now little book? Who has turned your pages?
  • To me The Shape of Design reads pretentiously in places, it can bring out my cynicism, but there's a part of me that wants to indulge in that. Amongst metaphor and simile there is some sound advice and insightful thoughts about the creative process. One piece of wisdom I re-learnt the more tricky way recently, based on end-of-year feedback from a peer:
"The creative process, like a good story, needs to start with a great leap of lightness, and that is only attainable through a suspension of disbelief. The objectives shouldn’t be ignored forever, but they should be defined ahead of time, set aside, and then deployed at the appropriate moment so that we may be audacious with our ideas." - Frank Chimero

Back to brief points – what is this weeknote?

  • Made chilli jam.
  • Made sourdough.
  • Used the same pot.
  • The bread is spicy.

Thus concludes this disjointed weeknote, ta-rar 👋
