I stayed up all night again. This time I wasn't stuck in a YouTube loop but just couldn't get to sleep, not even for a moment. Normally, in desperate times, rewatching a David Attenborough documentary would quieten my mind but not this time.

"And here we see a wild Lee in its natural habitat. A nocturnal creature, Lee stays up all night keeping watch for predators."

At 5am I gave up and went for a walk around local parks and ancient woodlands. I saw a kestrel up close, a woodpecker far away, and this here giant slug.

A rather large slug hangs perfectly vertically from a tree leaf, holding on by its tail end. It's a long way down for a slug. — Hang in there baby.

On Friday friends visited for a long weekend. They were still with us for the Euro 2020 final so I agreed to watch my first ever full football match without complaining. England vs. Italy. We went to Bragazzi's pre-match, an Italian deli with great coffee and the best sandwiches (get there early before they're gone) 😋

Surprisingly, I got well into it. Not firework up the arse into it, but, invested. Looks like we've got a pretty great team! The Italian team were not so sporting. I'm shocked it's possible for individual players to rack up yellow cards without repercussions for the team.
