- Oh yeah, that's right Diablo fans, there's a remastered version of Diablo 2 in the works. Ars Technica streamed the technical alpha on Twitch. It looks like an incredible revamp, that's true to the original and interestingly lets you switch seamlessly between old and new graphics. Diablo is one of the limited number of video games I play, that I played when I was young and stuck with. Maybe one day I'll pick up another franchise. In the meantime, there's lots of Sanctuary left to explore.
- Put 75ml rapeseed oil in a small saucepan with 5 fat garlic cloves and 100g salted, roasted peanuts. Set over a low heat and bring slowly to a boil. Add half a tablespoon of chipotle flakes and a quarter-teaspoon of salt. Do some other stuff, blend. What do you get? Oh my goodness so much tastiness. Make Meera Sodha's swede and mushroom tacos with peanut salsa right now. You need to shop? Okay, tomorrow then.
- Did you know rats laugh (I wish we could have a laugh with our rodent co-habitants but relations are tense, traps have been set)? Sophie Scott discusses the meaning of laughter on the Philosophy Bites podcast. Seems laughter is universal and primitive, yet heavily influenced by culture and learnt. Apparently we don't reach peak laughter interpretation until our 30s!? When was the last time you laughed a proper belly laugh? Like not a bit but uncontrollably, contagiously, unreasonably laughed so hard you cried? I don’t remember. I need it so much. Thanks, pandemic.
- Where pandemic taketh, pademic giveth too. Good news! My hair is now so long it reaches where my hairline should be. I could have one wicked comb forward, if I wanted. (Points finger at butt, makes smouldering tssss sound).
- At work I've been spending time revamping a couple of talks/workshops to introduce new colleagues to Origami. The last time they were updated it was quite hastily done in response to the pandemic. I'm still conscious of droning on though, it's easier to have a back-and-forth IRL isn't it? I learnt of mmhmm.app this week and think it could be a fun way to make a pre-recording, that people can go through at their own pace, more engaging. Something to follow up with.
- I branched out from bread this week to bake a birthday cake. It was a tasty, ugly affair. The topping/decorating aspect needs practice (soften your butter more Moody, and keep on whisking!) We'd share with you if we could but I'm afraid we're going to have to eat it all ourselves.
- Bye now friend 🧁👋
