  • Reader the outside is amazing! I've been in a rut, and not leaving the house for exercise, but this week I did better and at least got out a few times for a walk. Here's a photo I took on the way. Zoom in to the left and treat your soul to a very good boi enjoying a puddle. A view of a park. Grass stretches into the distance and rolls over a hill. A few large, leafless trees stand tall from the grass. Behind, clusters of trees and higher ground obscured by fog. To the left a very good boi, a large dog in a puddle, legs entirely submerged. It seems to be having a lot of fun.](/images/good-boi.jpg) ![The previous image cropped to focus on the good boi.
  • There were more unexpected treats, birds I've never seen before. Spotting a few nuthatch took me by surprise, they're so beautifully colourful with a striking black eyestripe; I've also seen a Grey wagtail, despite the name one of its defining features is its yellow belly (and particularly yellow arse); I also spied a couple of treecreppers which were super fun to watch navigate up and down a tree trunk, it was their seemingly unusual movement which caught my eye initially.
  • I've also spent some of my lunch time trying to learn the song of more familiar birds with a birdsong learning guide, organised by week (loving the "working from home bird feeders" #wfh-birdfeeders Slack channel at work). Some songs are easier to remember than others, it's actually quite difficult. Turns out I very strongly associate the Chaffinch with being young and at my grandparents house, which is kinda nice.
