Unassuming Note

Authored

  • This week we ordered a DIY Poutine Kit from The Poutinerie and it was the most excellent lockdown treat. I shared a link enthusiastically on Twitter. According to Twitter's analytics quite a few people followed that link (I'd go as far to say several). Did you click dear reader? Mother! I made it! I’m an influencer!
  • Someone made coffee at a coffee shop on TV this week. I miss the sweet, sweet, haunting squeal of a coffee machine.
  • I started work on updating a charity website I helped build a few years ago. My plan is to audit accessibility, data privacy, performance, etc, etc, and fix a couple of bugs along the way. I'm thinking I'll share my work in a blog post along the lines of “Making A Website A Bit Better Than It Was Before” but can't decide how much effort I want to put into it.
  • Speaking of accessibility audits, Alistair Duggin delivered a talk this week "Accessibility testing: tips to succeed". If you work on websites I highly recommend giving it a watch.
  • R's job hunt was successful 🎉, pending references and contract. I'm so proud of them. They worked so diligently and did so well in interview. Which means it looks like it's finally happening. We're moving to Sheffield!
  • That's right. The big news is at the end of this unassuming week note. We've been planning to move for a few years now, I even attended Front End North earlier this year to spend more time in Sheffield (and because of the exceptional line up of speakers). 2020 was going to be an exciting and busy year for us. We wanted to pack in all the best London activities we could before moving away but alas that's not how it worked out.
  • Exciting times!
  • Anyhow, until next week dear reader. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm off to put up Christmas decorations 🙌🎄
