14th June: Look at them go! Look at them go! 😲
A larvae sits on a tiny sunflower plant. It's black, orange, and built like a little tank. A cute little tank.
22nd June: Multiple plants across the plot are home to a ladybird larvae 🥰 An aphid eating machine.
Not a pretty picture, little plant pots filled with mud. Dirty containers nearby are half full of rain water.
22nd June: I almost forgot to keep sowing, with everything growing. Here's some greens from cabbage to lettuce. Leeks and spring onions. Beetroot sowed the other week has sprouted too.
Large, flat pea pods hang down attractively from a diagonal support. Below lush green lettuce and the pop of an orange nasturtium flower.
22nd June: I haven't been to the plot much this week. Where did these come from!?
My hand cradles 2 large, flat purple peas. They are vibrant and striking.
22nd June: And these pretty Blauwschokker!?
A re-used plastic takeaway container contains a rainbow of colour, including peas, flowers, and editable foliage.
22nd June: I picked a little harvest of peas, nasturtium, tree spinach, and beetroot thinnings.
Peas, flowers, and editable foliage chopped up on a chopping board.
22nd June: Chopped 'em up.
A medley of allotment colours, cooked down and served with tortelini.
22nd June: And made a little pasta dish with the help of Lidl. The peas were crisp and delicious.
The foreground shows cleared ground and little squash plants ready to burst into their space. THe backdrop shows a formidable thicket of waist hight weeds. Dock flower spikes dominate.
22nd June: The weeds in uncultivated areas have exploded, and are no longer in my control. Even in the cultivated patch I'm not on top of them at the moment.
Neat rows of potatoes, with salad crops between
22nd June: It took an hour or so, but the potato area is looking much better. The potatoes haven't been growing much and look a little sad. Perhaps it's time to harvest, first earlies are due around now.
A delightful sunny allotment shot, full of summer growth.
22nd June: Since my last update I've planted out squash and courgette. Anything I can find space for, I've plonked in. The corn is much improved on before, some more than others, and the tomatoes toward the back are looking way healthier ✨
